A lovely Ancient Roman gem. The intaglio is over 2000 years old is orange and white banded agate. In tondo (carved on the horizontal), we find a peacock between two cornucopias and above it a cross.
These three Ancient Roman symbols carved into this Intaglio representing: Immortality; Eternal Life; Abundance and Nourishment. The white banding is natural to this agate and gives it a unique appearance.
The setting is the Castellani® Vespa with tight gold braiding around the perimeter below the intaglio.
